What is covered?
The Optometry benefit lets all members get their eyes tested and a variety of frames and lenses every 24 months.
The comprehensive consultation includes refraction, tonometry and visual fields eye tests. You have a choice of three benefit levels:
- Level One has a R1,245 limit which includes frames up to R299 and clear single vision lenses
- Level Two has a R1745 limit which upgrades Level One to include bifocal lenses.
- Level Three includes all Level Two benefits as well as the alternative option of 1 pack of contact lenses (to the value of R350 per pack) every 6 months.
Lens enhancements like tinting and hard coating are excluded.
Multifocal lenses are also excluded but if you choose to get them then a shortfall will apply for any costs over the limit of your chosen benefit level.
What is the waiting period?
There is a 12 month waiting period before any new member on a policy can claim under this benefit.
Will there be co-payments?
There are no co-payments but there might be shortfalls:
If you choose to add any lens enhancements (tinting, hard coating) then you will need to pay for these separately.
If you choose multi-focal lenses, then you will be liable for the shortfall above the limit of your chosen benefit level.
Where can I use the benefit?
Our optometry benefit is available through Spec-Savers or Execuspecs nationwide. See the Network page for more details.
